March 27 handing in of the projects

Dear Students,

The handing in of the projects and the Latvian national review is approaching. We are expecting you to be ready and have all the projects printed and hanged out in the 5th floor design auditorium by Tuesday, March 27, 12:30 sharp. We do not expect a PowerPoint presentation therefore each group should prepare to speak for 5 minutes underlining sustainability principles applied in the design proposals, main features in the project area and overall design approach. All projects should have a summary of total area, built area, building intensity, amount of housing units per hectare and areas of particular zonings according to the principles described in my e-mail from March 5. And as for our own academical evaluation we still have to document all project final panels into our blog. Understanding the rush and last-moment hurries, in order to be evaluated and to get a mark in this semester Isover course project, we have set the deadline to upload data into the blog by Thursday, March 29, 12:30.

Some students have also asked about the judging process. According to the info provided by Isover there are 3 main criterias.

Judging Criteria 1: Design and Functional Concept
(1a) Idea & creative approach to the Trent Basin area
(1b) Functionality & quality of the formal design
(1c) Connection to the existing urban area
Judging Criteria 2: Multi-Comfort House
(2a) Application of ISOVER Multi-Comfort House and Passivhaus thinking and design principles to the community
Judging Criteria 3: Sustainability
(3a) Economical, ecological and social aspects of the future function and the impact of the design quality
(3b) Exposure & lighting concept
(3c) Green space design
(3d) Accessibility
(3e) Implementation of the renewable energy sources

I wish you all very productive last days in the project. Good luck and courage!
